Board Highlights – September 2026 

Professional Obligations  

• New Professional Obligations framework, including Obligations in Practice documents, approved to replace CPSO’s former policy framework  

Registration 

2026 Annual Renewal complete!  

• 43,107 independent practice 
• 5,040 postgraduate 

Registration Policy Updates 

• New pathway approved for specialists from approved jurisdictions without Royal College certification (in August 2026) 
• New policy approved to exempt the MCCQE and LMCC as requirements for registration, for both Canadian- and internationally-trained physicians 
• From April 2023 to September 2, 2026, CPSO has registered ~2,000 US-trained and ~1,700 UK-trained physicians through the CFPC without examination pathway! 

Accreditation 

• Over 110 Out-of-Hospital Premises (OHPs)* have successfully completed the Quality Improvement for OHP Medical Directors Program – surpassing the target of 70 OHPs! 

*represented by 74 OHP Medical Directors
