As a reminder, U.K.-trained doctors holding certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CPFC) without examination are eligible to gain licensure with CPSO without additional examinations or certifications.

The Recognition of Certification Without Examination Issued by CFPC policy grants family physicians trained in the United Kingdom – as well as Australia, Ireland, and the United States – a certificate of registration to practise independently in Ontario where they have obtained certification without examination by the CFPC.

These physicians may practice independently in Ontario within their scope of practice without supervision or additional assessment, and without any additional examinations or certifications.

For information about the registration pathways, see the Pathways for Family Doctors Without CFPC Examination document. Individuals with questions about eligibility can contact inquiries@cpso.on.ca.
